The Lifting Lives and Communities Initiative (LIFT) and Activ8 Hub have been working tirelessly to empower young girls in Anambra State with digital skills and mentorship through the LIFT for Her Initiative. Between April 25, 2025, and June 19, 2025, the initiative has made remarkable progress, and we’re excited to share the highlights with you.
The journey began with a rigorous assessment and selection process, which took place on April 25 and May 1, 2025. A total of 37 girls from Anambra State participated in the assessments, with 20 girls attending the first assessment and 17 attending the second. The assessment process was comprehensive, lasting four hours each day, and included valuable discussions with Mrs. Onyinye, a renowned expert in tech in Anambra.
After the assessments, the selection committee carefully reviewed the results and applied the disqualification criteria. Unfortunately, some girls were disqualified based on age, attitude towards the test, or impersonation. However, the majority of the participants met the requirements and were selected to move forward with the program.
The selected participants were then onboarded into a group and invited to a three-day masterclass, which took place from May 14 to 16, 2025. The masterclass focused on essential digital skills, including social media optimization, collaborative tools, and portfolio creation. The girls also learned how to pitch themselves on LinkedIn and other social media platforms, a crucial skill for success in the digital age.
On June 19, 2025, the participants took another significant step forward when they were onboarded into the No-Code School. They chose fields that align with their interests and skills, ranging from Social Media Management to No-Code Web Development, Creative Design, and Web3. As of now, they are attending classes and are in their fourth week of the program.
The LIFT for Her Initiative has made significant progress during the reporting period, and we’re optimistic about the impact it will have on the lives of these young girls. By equipping them with digital skills and mentorship, we’re empowering them to break down barriers and achieve their full potential. As the program continues to unfold, we look forward to seeing the remarkable things these girls will accomplish.
